Social Norms Change for Women’s Financial Inclusion

Banyan Global, supported by the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP) at the World Bank, conducted research on social norms, gender, and women’s financial inclusion. The final brief produced titled, Social Norms Change for Women’s Financial Inclusion, summarizes literature and best practices on how social norms have been addressed in other development sectors – particularly in health and education – and how this learning can be brought to financial sector development. It also identifies innovative approaches to social norm change that can facilitate women’s broader access to financial services in developing countries.
