Under the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Gender and Social Inclusion (GSI) Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA), Banyan Global is providing MCC with GSI technical advisory support to introduce state-of-the-art data, evidence, and good practices around gender and social inclusion and integrate gender into MCC program logic, implementation, and oversight. Banyan Global is providing GSI technical expertise to support MCC’s initial country and sector analyses, design new programs, conduct rigorous GSI research, and provide monitoring and evaluation support of program implementation. Our GSI team supports MCC in strengthening its policies, practices, knowledge management, and internal and external learning around gender and social inclusion. The MCC GSI BPA works across the following sectors: agriculture, education, energy and renewable energy; health; land and property rights; roads and transportation; water, sanitation, and irrigation; environment; social inclusion; trafficking in persons and sexual exploitation and abuse; and women’s economic empowerment.

Under this BPA mechanism, Banyan Global is supporting GSI considerations in MCC’s financial inclusion work to address systemic constraints for women-owned businesses, agribusinesses and smallholder farmers, and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to access debt, equity and professional business services. Banyan Global has provided technical assistance on GSI issues in financial inclusion projects under MCC compacts in Malawi, Sierra Leone, Nepal,  and Indonesia.
