Banyan Global announced on September 22, 2021, that it has been awarded the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Financial Inclusion project. The five-year project will support MCC to deliver technical advisory services to address systemic constraints for women-owned businesses, agribusinesses and smallholder farmers, and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to access debt, equity and professional business services. The project will leverage financial technology solutions through blended finance.

In Malawi, the project will assist smallholder farmers to access financing to diversify production into commercially-oriented, high-growth value chains and leverage private sector investment into areas that constrain agricultural growth. In Indonesia, the project will facilitate financial intermediation to support investment in critical infrastructure areas and MSMEs, including increased investments in transport and logistics infrastructure through the use of blended financing instruments.
