Advancing Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in Health Virtually

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Improving Market Partnerships and Access to Commodities Together (IMPACT) program's gender equality and social inclusion trainings were typically an in-person, multi-day event. However, after the COVID-19 pandemic hit, IMPACT pivoted to a virtual video-based platform, allowing the trainers to reach diverse technical teams and leadership while prioritizing the safety of all participants.

Motorbike Loans Increase Remote Communities’ Access to Vital Health Commodities in Madagascar

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Improving Market Partnerships and Access to Commodities Together (IMPACT) program in Madagascar partnered with AccèsBanque Madagascar to create a new financial product, the “motorbike loan,” designed to help community-level volunteers purchase an affordable mode of transport for delivering vital health commodities to rural communities.

Innovation in the Time of COVID: How Remote Capacity Building Will Help Advance Equitable Health-Commodity Supply Chain Distribution in Madagascar's Social Marketing Sector

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Improving Market Partnerships and Access to Commodities Together (IMPACT) program's gender and social inclusion (GESI) team, led by Banyan Global, and social marketing distribution team collaborated to integrate GESI concepts into the existing capacity-building curriculum for health commodities distribution agents. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic threat, the teams recognized that travel and in-person gatherings were limited, which prompted the development and implementation of an innovative remote-based training series.

IMPACT Program Celebrates World Contraception Day in Madagascar with Mass Communication Campaign

This World Contraception Day, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Improving Market Partnerships and Access to Commodities Together (IMPACT) program is supporting family planning and informed reproductive health choices alongside the Ministry of Health’s efforts to promote the dissemination of the new family planning law through a series of family planning-focused messages targeted to different audiences. The Banyan Global team, as the lead for IMPACT’s gender and social inclusion (GESI) work, was critical to the development of these messages.

Private Providers and Banks Meet the Challenges of the COVID-19 Pandemic

Following the outbreak of COVID-19 in early March 2020, the Madagascar government imposed a nationwide lockdown, restricting travel and limiting business activity within the country. Despite these constraints, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Sustaining Health Outcomes through the Private Sector Plus (SHOPS Plus) access to finance team continued to support private health facilities in providing essential healthcare services to their communities.
