Ghana Strengthening Health Outcomes through the Private Sector (SHOPS) Project
Banyan Global is a subcontractor to Abt Associates on the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Ghana Strengthening Health Outcomes through the Private Sector (SHOPS) project, which will scale up USAID’s efforts in improving private sector providers’ access to finance and capacity to provide quality maternal, neonatal and child health, and malaria services. Banyan Global is leading work to expand access to finance and business strengthening for the private sector. Specifically, this includes the following: working with Fidelity Bank and other banks to expand lending to the health sector; supporting the utilization of a Development Credit Authority guarantee to stimulate lending to the health sector; providing technical assistance to the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) to support financing to its members; developing a mutual guarantee for CHAG as a strategy to expand financing; and developing and rolling out a business training program for CHAG members and other private health providers.
