Asset-Based Lending Project
Banyan Global was a subcontractor to Deloitte on the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Financing Growth project, which supported USAID’s Microenterprise and Private Enterprise Promotion office in providing support to missions and bureaus to improve their strategies and programs for facilitating the availability of financing for investment, especially by micro, small, and medium enterprises. USAID’s Office of Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment bought into this contract to promote increased access to commercial finance for women and women-owned businesses. Within this context, Banyan Global supported an assessment of global asset-based lending models and the identification of countries using best practice approaches, as well as a business model review of asset-based lending in Colombia to expand national and regional lending to female business owners. Based on lessons from the global study, the project assisted USAID missions to enhance asset-based lending initiatives and advocate globally for the use of these instruments to catalyze inclusive financing efforts for women.
