Meeting Youth Where They Are: Piloting a New Approach

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Honduras Workforce Development Activity, Empleando Futuros (Employing Futures), is addressing the social and economic isolation that contributes to violence in Honduras head on. In 2018, Empleando Futuros began exploring ways to provide employment and entrepreneurship training for youth who were either former gang members or had previously been in conflict with the law.

In Ethiopia, women farmers achieve agricultural yields that are up to 35 percent lower than that of their male counterparts. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Feed the Future Ethiopia Value Chain Activity (FTFE VCA) addresses barriers to success for women farmers through a peer mentorship program. Banyan Global, as a subcontractor to Fintrac, leads the program’s implementation.

Banyan Global, working under the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Sustaining Health Outcomes through the Private Sector Project Plus (SHOPS Plus), built the capacity of local business-development service providers in Senegal to provide business and financial-management training and one-on-one coaching to Madame Dieng and private health providers like her.

Empowering Women Leaders on the Journey to Self-Reliance in Mali

The West African nation of Mali is taking strides to increase the number of women in public office. Despite this progress, meaningful representation of women remains uneven. Banyan Global is supporting the government of Mali’s efforts to increase the number of women in office as a subcontractor on the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Mali Sub-National Governance Project (SNGP) by strengthening the leadership skills of women candidates to run for office as well as building the capacity of female and male elected officials to govern in a gender-responsive manner.
