Testimonials from Nigerian Scholarship Recipients for Continuing Health Education

Under the Nigeria Health Workforce Management (HWM) Activity, Banyan Global awarded 664 scholarships funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to female health care students in Nigeria, investing in their journey toward becoming health care professionals.

The scholarships supported financially disadvantaged girls, helped improve graduation rates, and contributed to increasing the female health workforce in rural health facilities. A majority of the recipients were students studying to be Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWS) with a smaller portion of recipients studying to be Community Midwives or Nurses. In these testimonials, ten recipients across Bauchi, Ebonyi, Kebbi, Sokoto, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), share the impact the HWM scholarships have had on their studies and lives. For many, these scholarships not only relieved their financial burdens but also supported their academic performance by reducing their stress and allowing them more time to study.
