SIFPO-Marie Stopes International (SIFPO-MSI) Project
Banyan Global was contracted by Marie Stopes International (MSI) to strengthen the business management capacity of MSI BlueStar social franchise health providers in Ethiopia and Sierra Leone. Specifically, Banyan Global conducted a training needs assessment of BlueStar franchisees in Ethiopia and Sierra Leone. Based on the findings of this assessment, Banyan Global adapted the Financial Management and Record Keeping Guide that it developed for BlueStar Malawi social franchisees under the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Strengthening Health Outcomes through the Private Sector (SHOPS) project. This training covered topics such as goal setting, record keeping, financial statements and analysis, cashflow planning, and accessing finance. Banyan Global then conducted a training of trainers with MSI staff and trainers and observed the pilot of the business training. The training was very well received and the training materials were distributed to its franchises.
