Motorbike Loans Increase Remote Communities’ Access to Vital Health Commodities in Madagascar

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Improving Market Partnerships and Access to Commodities Together (IMPACT) program in Madagascar partnered with AccèsBanque Madagascar to create a new financial product, the “motorbike loan,” designed to help community-level volunteers purchase an affordable mode of transport for delivering vital health commodities to rural communities.

Women in Leadership Training Paves the Way for Milk Cooperative Success in Ethiopia

In November 2020, Banyan Global’s gender and youth team on the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Feed the Future Ethiopia Value Chain Activity (VCA) organized a Women in Leadership training in Ethiopia’s Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Region for women engaged in cooperatives and other informal and formal associations who aspire to take on leadership positions. After the training, an important milk cooperative decided to reopen.

Maintaining the Private Sector’s Commitment to Providing Health Commodities during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Following the outbreak of COVID-19 infections in Madagascar in early 2020, the government imposed a nationwide lockdown restricting travel and limiting business activities within the country. Despite these constraints, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Improving Market Partnerships and Access to Commodities Together (IMPACT) Program team was committed to finding ways to support its private sector partners in continuing to provide vital health commodities to their communities during the crisis.

Youth Leading Youth for Village-based Entrepreneurship and Business Opportunities in Ethiopia

Eighteen-year-old Abraha Grimy has been a participant in the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Feed the Future Ethiopia Value Chain Activity’s (VCA) mentorship program in Enderta woreda, Felegselam kebele since December 2019. In his role as a mentor, Abraha provides advice to 10 youth mentees who live around his village.

Perseverance in the Time of COVID-19

Tefera Lemi is a beneficiary of the Feed the Future Ethiopia Value Chain Activity (EVCA) and an agro-dealer/animal feed distributor in the Meraro Kebele, located in the Oromia Region. For Tefera, COVID-19 has meant fewer customers and sales due to movement restrictions and transport shortages.

Empleando Futuros Launches Biosafety Courses to Help Honduran Workforce Respond to COVID-19

As part of the national response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Honduras, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Empleando Futuros (Employing Futures) project worked with the Honduran National Professional Training Institute (INFOP) and nine other government agencies to coordinate the development of a general manual on the basics of biosafety and a corresponding online certification course.
