In February 2017, two of Banyan Global’s team members, program coordinator Creighton Camera and gender specialist Christine Seisun, traveled to Bamako to provide technical assistance on the Mali Sub-National Governance Project (SNGP). Along with gender training to SNGP staff and gender technical assistance, one of the trip’s primary goals was to provide budgetary assistance and administrative capacity building to local SNGP partner Women in Law and Development in Africa (WILDAF-Mali). With Banyan Global’s assistance, WILDAF-Mali finalized its budget for the remaining four years of the project, as well as its Year 2 activity budgets.

Banyan Global manages the gender-integration component of Mali SNGP, a five-year USAID-funded project that advances Mali’s decentralization process by creating and institutionalizing financial and asset-management procedures, as well as containing corruption. The project focuses on public financial management and improving operational efficiency in the management of Mali’s financial resources between Bamako and the regions—thus ensuring that public funds intended for decentralized services are delivered effectively and transparently.
