Unraveling the Factors behind the Growth of the Indonesian Family Planning Private Sector
This case study documents Indonesia’s family planning experience with a view to understanding the factors and conditions that led to the remarkable growth in the private sector’s role in delivering family planning services. Through analyzing Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) data between 1987 and 1997, reviewing literature and conducting key informant interviews, the study offers policy guidance on how to encourage greater private sector participation in delivering family planning services.
