Banyan Global is implementing the Gender Integration Technical Assistance (GITA) II Task Order, which provides on-demand, rapid-response, short-term technical assistance (STTA) to United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Missions and Bureaus across multiple sectors and in crisis and non-crisis settings.

Under GITA II, Banyan Global partnered with USAID/South America Region (SAR) to carry out a regional gender analysis of the fisheries sectors in Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia with the goal of providing actionable recommendations to USAID/SAR for strategies to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment in fisheries-related activities and programs. The analysis examines how gender dynamics exacerbate key constraints to inclusive and sustainable development, with a focus on artisanal fisheries in Peru and Ecuador. The analysis organizes findings by gender analysis domain and provides recommendations on institutional gender integration, strengthening women’s agency and leadership, supporting socio-economic development, and improving knowledge and awareness.
