Gender Analysis – USAID/Ghana
Banyan Global is implementing the Gender Integration Technical Assistance (GITA) II Task Order, which provides on-demand, rapid-response, short-term technical assistance (STTA) to United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Missions and Bureaus across multiple sectors and in crisis and non-crisis settings.
Under GITA II, Banyan Global partnered with USAID/Ghana to conduct a gender analysis to inform the Mission’s 2020-2024 Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS). Using Banyan Global’s tested gender analysis research tools, a four-person research team analyzed gender equality and women’s empowerment advances and constraints within the following sectors of health, economic growth, education, and democracy and governance and addressed the cross-cutting themes of behavioral change and gender-based violence (GBV). The gender analysis provided strategic and programmatic recommendations across the aforementioned sectors to inform the CDCS.
As follow-on support to the gender analysis process, GITA II provided technical assistance to USAID/Ghana to conduct a gender review of the CDCS Performance Management Plan (PMP) (2020-2025). Banyan Global presented recommendations on strengthening the gender-sensitivity of indicators and data analysis; adding gender-specific indicators for the health and population, education, and democracy and governance sectors; and enhancing measurement for women’s economic empowerment and GBV.
