USAID/Burundi Gender Analysis

Banyan Global is implementing the Gender Integration Technical Assistance (GITA) II Task Order, which provides on-demand, rapid-response, short-term technical assistance (STTA) to United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Missions and Bureaus across multiple sectors and in crisis and non-crisis settings.

Under GITA II, Banyan Global partnered with USAID/Burundi to conduct a gender analysis to inform the Mission’s strategic framework and the U.S. Government’s Integrated Country Strategy for FY2023-2027. The analysis built upon the USAID/Burundi Gender Analysis that Banyan Global completed in 2017 under the USAID ADVANTAGE IDIQ. A four-person research team identified advances, gaps, and opportunities on gender equality and women’s empowerment across the following sectors: health, education, economic growth, agriculture, and good governance. The analysis addressed GBV prevention and response and WEE as cross-cutting themes, youth as a key population, and the intersectional variables of marital status, region, and rural/urban residence.
