Banyan Global is implementing the Gender Integration Technical Assistance (GITA) II Task Order, which provides on-demand, rapid-response, short-term technical assistance (STTA) to United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Missions and Bureaus across multiple sectors and in crisis and non-crisis settings.
Under GITA II, Banyan Global is partnering with USAID/Niger to conduct a gender analysis to inform the mission’s first Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS) for 2022-2027. The analysis will provide insights across anticipated development objectives for strengthening communities, expanding economic opportunities, and improving governance. A four-person research team is identifying advances, gaps, and opportunities on gender equality and women’s empowerment across the following sectors: agriculture, health, economic growth, education, and governance. The analysis is focusing on cross-cutting themes of GBV prevention and response, including child, early, and forced marriage (CEFM), and women’s economic empowerment. It is also addressing youth as a key population and the intersectional variables of ethnicity, region, and rural/urban residence.
