The Banyan Global Innovation and Learning Hub held its first annual “Innovathon” for US-based staff on January 16, 2019. The purpose of the Innovathon was to share learning between practice areas around innovations in Banyan Global’s work and brainstorm how these innovations can benefit the development community at large. Staff worked in groups to showcase current innovations at Banyan Global and identify how they support USAID’s  development objectives. A series of debates ensued, eventually producing a “winner” and a “runner up”. The champion was the innovation with the greatest chance of being adapted by other development practitioners to promote learning, improve programming and support countries on their journeys to self-reliance.
