Training: Persuasive Communications and Negotiations Training for Women Entrepreneurs and Business Owners

On behalf of the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Southern Africa Trade Hub project, Banyan Global delivered the three-day Persuasive Communications and Negotiations Training for Women Entrepreneurs and Business Owners. This innovative, interactive workshop was delivered in Lusaka, Zambia and Windhoek, Namibia to members of the African Women’s Entrepreneurship Program (AWEP). Women business owners from sectors including textiles and apparels, the service industry, tourism, construction, manufacturing, and real estate were trained on presentation, negotiation, and other aspects central to effectively communicating. Participants received one-on-one coaching and feedback on their sales and business pitches. They also had an opportunity to discuss in an open forum the cultural and gender-related constraints limiting Zambian and Namibian businesses as well as strategies to overcome them. Closing remarks were given and certificates presented by Zambia’s minister of gender, honorable professor Nkandu Luo, in Lusaka and the United States ambassador to Namibia, Thomas Daughton, in Windhoek. Similar persuasive communications workshops were delivered to members of the Botswana Women in Business Association and AWEP Zambia in August 2015.
